"You know I care about you, right?"

There wasn't much about him that you didn't admire. He was strong, faithful, and loved you more than words could describe. He was everything you had ever wished for and more than you ever could've asked for. There were times where you honestly felt like you could never match up to the way that he made you feel. So, when the opportunity came to show him just how much you loved him, you were always quick to jump on it.

Much to your delight and worry, you received a frantic call from Brian one evening, saying that his house had mysteriously flooded due to a dishwasher malfunction. You were quick to offer your apartment to him and his furry pals. There was no ounce of hesitation in your suggestion, and it was exciting to think about a couple of days together. He had graciously accepted, and arrived as soon as possible. He was disheveled when he walked in the door, and it was clear that the dishwasher backfire had stressed him out.

"I swear that this shit only happens to me," He mumbled as he closed your apartment door behind him with his leg.

He had two bags slung over his shoulders, and his arms were full with three squirming cats. Chessie was the first to take the leap of faith from his hold with Benjamin and Brooklyn close to follow. All three rubbed their bodies against your legs, weaving between your ankles as their form of greeting.

"Yeah, Bri, because you're such a magnet to bad luck and all," You chuckled sarcastically as you scratched behind Brooklyn's ears. "I promise you're not the first nor last person to have a dishwasher flood."

Q let out a long sigh, obviously overwhelmed about the situation. You stood up from petting Brooklyn and diverted your attention to Q.

"They'll get it fixed. Don't even worry about it." You added, taking both of Brian's bags from his shoulders.

He gave you a tired and almost pathetic grin as you did your best to console him. He really appreciated you doing this for him.

When you turned on your heel to put Q's things in your bedroom, he grabbed your hand to stop you and smoothly pull you into him. Your bodies seemed to melt into each other as they always did. His brown eyes were serene in this moment as he looked back at you as if you were the only person in the world. He spoke with a lowered voice, and he was careful not to disturb the calmness of the night hours.

"Thank you for this. It really means a lot." His voice drawled with sleepiness.

His tone almost made you fall over flat, but you played it off cooly.

"Anything for you. It's no problem," You said almost whispering.

He had a hand on the small of your back, holding you against him as he swayed with you. Your head rested against the front of his shoulder while you listened to his steady breathing. You felt so lucky and so blessed to have him in your life. He felt like a blessing that you didn't deserve.

A few moments passed before a small meow caught your attention. Chessie was sitting in front of your bedroom door, her tail swaying gracefully against the hardwood floors.

"I think Chess has the right idea. I'm ready for bed." You admitted truthfully.

Q agreed with a nod. He led the way with his shuffling feet, and he put his things on his side of the room. He dropped it down without much care, and he made his way to the bathroom to take a shower. Your home was Brian's home, as was his was yours. You never minded him making himself at home, and it actually made you feel good to see him so comfortable.

You did, however, release a huff at the trail of clothes that he had left behind on the floor. Q was a bit less caring when it came to the tidiness of your home, so that would potentially bring some difficult contrast. You rolled your eyes at the sight of his forgotten articles of clothing on the bedroom carpet, but decided not to say anything. He had endured a rough day, and you could let this slide this time.

You tossed his clothes into your laundry basket, noting to yourself to wash them tomorrow. An intense yawn arose in your chest which signaled that it was definitely time for bed. Your nighttime routine was unchanging as you went through the process. Just as you were about to unmake the bed, the bathroom door opened with a cloud of steam to follow.

Brian looked refreshed and revived, but still tired. Upon noticing his shirt on you that you had changed into, he smirked and slightly threw his head back.

"You're killing me, you know." He said while tightening his grip on the towel that was wrapped around his waist.

You smiled sheepishly, your cheeks heating up at his words. You placed the decorative pillows underneath your bed and peeled the covers back. The fresh sheets and duvet were calling your name with a loud invitation for a good night of sleep.

You slipped into the bed first, a satisfied sigh escaping your lips. The sheets were cool, feeling heavenly on your skin as you settled in.

"Don't have too much fun without me." Q winked as he approached the bed.

He slid in next to you, and he himself let out a soft groan once he was comfortable. You were pressed into him, your back against his chest. Your legs were entwined as he played with your hair and he was content with leaving a kiss every so often.

You were beaming with happiness. Q feeling comfortable in your home made your heart swell. The cats themselves were even at home. You always loved that about him. How he could adapt to any setting. Why it was such an admirable feature, you weren't sure. You felt Q press a kiss to the back of your neck, then another, then another.

"You know what I've always loved about you?" You asked upon knowing he was awake.

He hummed in response, continuing to layer your skin with kisses.

"I love how you can make anywhere a home. All you need is yourself and the cats. And that's really special." You stated as you fiddled with his hand from the arm that was snaked around you.

His kissing stopped, a cautious silence filled the air. Just as you thought he had fallen asleep, he answered.

"True. But it couldn't be like that without you." He said rubbing your thigh lightly.

Now it was your turn to stop. Your heart started to beat a little faster. His words repeating over and over. You didn't know he felt that way. I mean, you knew he loved you. He never let you forget it. But you didn't realize you meant that much to him. You turned in the bed to face Q, he must've read your mind.

"You know I care about you, right?"

You only nodded in response, because you had suddenly found yourself at a loss for words. He kissed your forehead gently, and you swore you could feel yourself falling in love all over again. It was a refreshing feeling to know that the man that you fell in love with hadn't changed. It was the most blissful, and joyful feeling you had ever felt.

"I love you." You professed.

It was the only thing you could think to say. But it was true. With another kiss on your head, he responded without a beat to pass.

"Oh, doll, you don't even know how much I do too."
